Legacy of a Champion
Minister Jefferson Williams Jones
affectionately known as "Jap" was born December 16, 1951, in Belle Glade, Florida to the late Jimmy Jones and Johnnie Mae Jones. Minister Jones received his formal education in the West Palm Beach Public Schools System and graduated from Belle Glade Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida. In his early years, Minister Jones worked as a Taxicab Driver for five years. He later dedicated more than 20 years of service as Head Custodian at Beachland Elementary.
In 1991, Minster Jones accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was a member Church of God by Faith in Fort Lauderdale, Florida under the leadership of his late brother, Elder Dr. David L. Lewis, Sr. It was at 'By Faith, that he became an ordained Minister and while there he was active doing whatever his hands found to do willingly! It was always an honor to worship alongside him. When the Spirit was moving, you could look up and see Minister Jones praising God through dance in a way that was uniquely his own. No one could dance quite like him truly living out "Dance Like David Danced." His Food Ministry was a blessing to all whose lives he touched. He found great fulfillment in going into the highways and hedges, feeding and serving those less fortunate, demonstrating his love for God through service to others.
Minister Jones was vibrant, handsome, and a sharp-dressed young man who truly never met a stranger.
He was a joyful soul with a contagious smile that could light up any room. He loved God deeply and found great joy in people. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, photography, and videography. He was among the first to introduce videography to the National Church of God by Faith Inc. and his community capturing meaningful moments and bringing happiness to many.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, before the close of day, Minister Jones closed his eyes for the last time and gained his heavenly wings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Jones and Johnnie Mae Jones; his brothers, DC Lewis, Elder Dr. David Lewis, Sr., James Jones and Thomas Jones; his sisters, Esther Fortune and Ruthie Dilworth.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his 3 sons, Jefferson Jamal Jones, Justice Williams Jones both of Orlando, Florida and Jarvis William Jones of Vero Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Shakeye Jones, Jamian Jones, Jayana Jones and Jefferson Jamal Jones, Il all of Orlando, Florida; 3 bonus children, Tanzi Brown of Orlando, Florida, Torre Walker of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Toni Holt of Orlando, Florida; 1 sister, Queen Jones of West Palm Beach, Florida; 1 brother, Eddie Jones of West Palm Beach, Florida; 2 sisters-in-laws, Mother Annie Ruth Lewis (who raised him as a son) of Stuart, Florida and Jeanette Jones of Warner Robins, Georgia; and the host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
