HONORING THE LIFE, LOVE & LEGACY OF CLEVELAND LEON JOHNSON SR.
1953-2023
Cleveland Leon Johnson, Si was born on February 9, 1953, in Oakfield, Georgia to the very proud parents of the late Willie B. Johnson Sr. and Odessa Pery-Johnson. He was the seventh of eight children born to this union. His parents moved to Fort Pierce in 1964 from Oakfield, Georgia. He received his education from St. Lucie Public schools. During high school, Cleveland played baseball and basketball graduating from Fort Pierce Central High School Class of 1972. Upon graduating high school, Cleveland went on to further his education in Texas. Years later, he moved fo Miami, Florida, where he worked for Southern Wine and Spirits for 29 years.
Cleveland met and married the love of his life, Lottie An Armstrong-Johnson, in December of 1984. To this union, two children were born: Cleveland Johnson Jr. and Deondra Johnson. Very soon after, Cleveland joined Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dwayne Richardson and became a Deacon.
When he wasn't serving the Lord or working for his family. Cleveland was enjoying his sports. An avid sports fanatic his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys, but he was more of a basketball fan when the Cowboys were not playing. He was a hardworking family man that took no days off, a man who broke his back to support his family in every way he could. In 2007, he decided to relocate his family for a better life and opportunity to Atlanta, Georgia, where he met many friends.
Cleveland worked at United Distributors for 8 years. He worked for over 40 years until he retired in February of 2016. But even after retiring he did not let that stop him from doing all he could for others. Cleveland was always a super friendly and sweet person, who would always offer his services anyway he could. Because of his dedication to God and his family, others saw and felt Cleveland's love and zeal for life; as a result, he became a strong presence in his neighboring community.
On Friday, June 23, 2023, at Piedmont Hospital Fayette in Fayetteville. Georgia. God called his son home to be at peace. He fought a great fight until the very end, and still to this day, he is still taking care of his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father, a dedicated deacon, a great friend and mentor, and a light that continues to shine all around him. Live on Cowboy!
